Thoughts...I guess? Perhaps even something of value. Most likely not.

troubling

I came across this the other day and was greatly saddened. It shows the kind of war that must be fought for the authority of scripture. Even the comments are troubling as people reason away the inerrancy of scripture with finite human logic.

Welp

As things normally go for me, my plans have changed. Looks like I'll be doing more of a topical study on biblical Worship. I plan on picking one text to stick with. I don't know which one yet though.

First night of Study

Started the study of 1 John tonight! WoopWoop! I just want to say that is a interesting letter. It's amazing how black and white he is. He makes no apologizes for the "in or out" contrasts. I'm' excited to go deeper in this book, but I'm believing it'll be a great challenge. I want to do the overview of the book first. Its a heavy book with strong language. Very definitive. We are to be different. Distinct. Defined. Its the basics of Christianity. Basically. No frills, just the bottom line.
So, it has officially started.

possible pick?

I'm leaning towards 1 John. God's been revealing to me my love for the world, and how I've been finding satisfaction in the tings of the world and not my Savior, my committment to my own comfort and not obedience to His word and how important it is that we know the truth. Sooo thats the gameplan for now.
I'm so thankful to God that He has given us His word! That we may enjoy Him who loved us! That we may satisfy our souls in the truth and beauty of His word! Thank God that we don't have to settle for the empty thrills that the rest of the world hopes in! How good is the one who set us free from sin and unto Him!

Back!! After an overwhelming demand.

Not that anyone will read this, but I'm trying to post again. However, with a different purpose. Mainly for my own benefeit. Yes, I'm selfish.
I want to go through a book of the Bible and post thoughts on what I'm studying. More in an expositional style, but we'll see. It may not even happen. This would go strongly against my slothfulness (which is one reason I want to attempt it. See how its for myself). The main goal is for me to spend more time with my nose and heart in the Word. And to work on expositing scripture. WoopWoop.
I havn't picked a book yet though. Probably a smaller one to start with. My devo's are in th psalms, but there is no way I'm attempting that book. Something that's actually doable. We'll see.

The Authority of Scripture

The end of "John"s last comment on Gay Marriage, he put forth his belief that the apostle Paul's words are not authoritative. Which leads me to the question : Is the whole of scripture authoritative? Does the entire Bible have authority over our lives?

Gay Marriage

Does the Bible really prohibit gay marriage? Is'nt it only spoken against in the Old Testament, therefore being non-relative to today or the laws in the New Testament?

Taking history lightly

Has our modern world/church forgotten about our past? Or have we chosen to not take our past seriously when we move toward new ideas/acceptions/laws/embraces, believing we've reached new "enlightenment?

Your Church

Has your church lost it's distinction from the world by seeking to be relative? Or, on the opposite end, does your church have no relevence in todays modern world? Where should the american church seek to be?

the idea

The idea of this blog is to pose questions of religion, culture, politics or whatever (my focus will be on christianity, or from a christian perspective) . My hope is to begin conversations, arguments or debates on the "comments" page. So, this only works if I have some decent questions, if people read them, if people post comments, and if people care about any of this stuff. I guess we'll see.

Testing...

First blog. I welcome myself to the "dork" side. Thank you Eric. Welcome. We'll see how this goes.
